Experiments on the vegetative micropropagation of Adonis vernalis L

Green primary callus growing continuously at medium rate developed with a frequency of 50-60% after a period of 3-4 weeks from defoliated, 1.5-cm stem sections of A. vernalis on modified Nitsch culture medium + 4 mg/litre NAA + 0.4 mg/litre BA + 500 mg/litre casein hydrolysate. A continuously growing secondary callus tissue culture was produced from this by adding 5 mg/litre GA3 to the culture medium. Sucrose at 30 g/litre proved a suitable carbon source, whereas glucose was unsuitable.
