Experiments with a hive for little bees: some observations on manipulating colonies of Apis florea in Oman (Part 2)

Experiments with a hive for little bees: some observations on manipulating colonies of Apis florea in Oman (Part 2)

Indian Bee Journal 44(4): 93-105

Experiments with A. florea colonies in hives that incorporated mesh entrances and movable frames are described (see part 1 of this study, AA 814/85). The deserted brood comb of a wild colony was readily accepted by a colony already in a hive. It proceeded to rear its brood in the introduced comb in the lower frame, while the comb in the upper frame, which had been used for brood rearing, became the honey storage comb.
