Exploring the possibility of harvest of plant cane above the ground level to improve the yield and quality of sugarcane ratoon crop - a new approach in ratoon management

In trials with the Co.1148 the cane was cut at ground level or 5, 10 or 15 cm above it. The yield of ratoon cane was 74.3, 89.9, 85.6 and 83.8 t/ha on plots cut at ground level, or at 5, 10 or 15 cm, respectively.
