Exporting American grains to Eastern Europe

Exporting American grains to Eastern Europe

Reports, Institute of Current World Affairs, USA (LLH-3): 4

Until 1981, US agricultural exports to Eastern Europe were increasing but in 1982 they were valued at only $877 million, less than half the value of exports in 1981. Exports of feedingstuffs in particular have fallen dramatically and the US long-term prospects look pessimistic. The most serious immediate problems limiting agricultural sales are the severe international indebtedness of many of these countries and the increased efforts to achieve self sufficiency in animal feeds.
