Exporting education through foreign aid development programs

Exporting education through foreign aid development programs

International Education 13(1): 5-14

This paper examines the education component in the Foreign Aid Development Programs (FADP) of the US government. Specifically, projects in Jordan in the last eight years are studied. As a result of establishing a chronology of educational strategies, a pattern evolved and a model could be suggested, which involved a five-stage basic structure, comprising background preparation, curriculum material development, "outreach" and awareness, instructional alternatives and support system development.
