Expression of a microinjected immunoglobulin kappa gene in transgenic mice

Expression of a microinjected immunoglobulin kappa gene in transgenic mice

Genetic manipulation of the early mammalian embryo: 197-209

Transgenic mice with a rearranged, functional immunoglobulin kappa gene in their somatic and germ cells were produced. Six transgenic mice and their transgenic offspring had large amounts of the specific kappa chains in their serum. The results indicated that the microinjected kappa gene contains target sequences for B cell-specific gene activation signals that override the influence of the integration site.
