Extending the marketing period of late producing avocado cultivars with controlled atmosphere storage

Extending the marketing period of late producing avocado cultivars with controlled atmosphere storage

Alon Hanotea 40(12): 1161-1171

The Nabal stored satisfactorily in controlled atmosphere (CA) storage for two months after picking. Fruit harvested in March and removed from storage in late May had a shelf life of 5-10 days. Treatment of the fruit with 0.2% Sportak after harvest was required to delay storage decay caused by Colletotrichum gloeosporioides and Diplodia natalensis (Botryodiplodia theobromae) and to slow fruit softening during shelf life.
