Extent of Douglas fir and Norway spruce plantations in France

Extent of Douglas fir and Norway spruce plantations in France

Revue Forestiere Francaise 36(4): 254-258

Using data from the National Forest Inventory, the National Forestry Fund and surveys on land use, statistical methods were developed to estimate the area of Douglas fir and Norway spruce plantations in France in 1980. It was estimated that 7 departments each contained over 10 000 ha of Douglas fir, with an overall total of about 220 000 ha of plantations, and a potential annual usable volume of 13 msuperscript 3/ha for the whole of France.
