External morphology of leafhoppers

External morphology of leafhoppers

The leafhoppers and planthoppers: 41-60

The morphological characters of the external structure of Cicadellidae that are most used by North American workers in taxonomy are reviewed, and a standardized system of nomenclature for the major structures is proposed. Alternative nomenclature is also listed. Some of the many examples of homoplasy are discussed.
