In the 1st of 2 experiments, 11 Swedish Landrace X Swedish Large White gilts were studied during their first 6 oestrous periods. The duration of the first 5 cycles averaged 20.7, 20.2, 20.8, 19.9 and 20.6 days resp. For individual gilts, the mean cycle length varied between 18.8 and 21.3 days.
