Extraction of inorganic P from Pahokee muck under various long-term field managements

Effect of long-term crop management on inorganic P in 11 fields sampled to a 43-cm depth was determined for Pahokee muck (euic Lithic Medisaprist). Total inorganic P was extracted by hot 0.1 M HCl during 3 h and was measured as orthophosphate by the molybdate-ascorbic acid method. Estimation of 'available' inorganic P was made by extraction with 0.05 M HCl in 0.013 M H2SO4 (Mehlich I reagent) using a 100:1 solution to soil ratio and 25 min of shaking.
