Farm women and the integration of work and leisure: an oral history perspective Paper presented at the International conference on leisure: research perspectives, May 19-23, 1986, Brazil: 10

The historical work lives of a group of rural farm women in the USA highlight the potentials for an integration of work and leisure or of the impossibilities of such a life. Because of the barriers which have prevented women from taking public positions in the work place, and the lack of recreational opportunity, women have had to lead holistic lives in order to experience a 'quality of life'. The farm women worked very hard and found meaning in their lives.
