Features of the hybridization of the tetraploid wheats Triticum persicum Vav. and T. timopheevii Zhuk. with rye

Features of the hybridization of the tetraploid wheats Triticum persicum Vav. and T. timopheevii Zhuk. with rye

Nauchno tekhnicheskii Byulleten' Vsesoyuznogo Ordena Lenina i Ordena Druzhby Narodov Nauchno issledovatel' skogo Instituta Rastenievodstva Imeni N I Vavilovarecd 1986; (142): 30-33

Six forms of T. persicum and T. timopheevii were crossed with 4 rye (Secale cereale) varieties, the wild perennial S. kuprijanovii and the perennial variety Pervenets (a S. cereale X S. montanum hybrid). When S. cereale was the maternal parent, no grain was set. When either Triticum species was the maternal parent, grain set was high (26.0-76.1%), being higher in crosses involving T. timopheevii than in crosses involving T. persicum.
