Field use of progestagen (Altrenogest) for estrus control in gilts: influence of different system of management on fertility

Field use of progestagen (Altrenogest) for estrus control in gilts: influence of different system of management on fertility

10th International Congress on Animal Reproduction and Artificial Insemination, June 10-14-1984, University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, Illinois, USA Volume III Brief communications (Paper 333): 3

621 Large White, Landrace and crossbred pubertal gilts, in 116 groups at 33 farms, were fed 20 mg allyl trenbolone (Altrenogest or Regumate) daily for 18 days by both individual and group feeding. Some of the were exposed to boars during treatment with progestogens and for 4 days after the end of treatment. In each group, the were inseminated with fresh semen on days 6 and 7 after the end of progestogen feeding, or were inseminated at oestrus and 24 h later.
