Genetic and non-genetic factors affecting milk yield, fat yield and lactation length in buffaloes

227 lactation records of 84 Mediterranean and Murrah X Mediterranean buffaloes in their 1st-7th lactations were analysed. Lactation milk yield averaged 1513.8+or-35.15 kg, fat yield 104.93+or-3.26 kg and lactation length 252.31+or-4.15 days. Year of calving significantly affected milk yield. Month of calving, breed of cow, sex of calf, and parity had no significant effect on milk yield or lactation length.
