The data analysed referred to 31 132 breeding periods of 11 347 dairy cows sired by 1101 bulls; the cows had a total of 66 184 services to 1320 bulls. For traits of the 1st calving interval (service period, number of days open, calving interval, number of days between services, and postpartum oestrus interval), hsuperscript 2s were <0.07; the hsuperscript 2 of age at 1st service was 0.2 by max. likelihood and 0.13 by MIVQUEO.
