Grain weight and tillering of six-rowed and two-rowed cultivars of spring barley under two planting densities

Canadian Journal of Plant Science 65(4): 1114

When 6 six-rowed and 4 two-rowed cultivars were sown at 25 and 250 plants/msuperscript 2, there was no clear association between grain weight and tiller number in either group. Under competition, the two-rowed cultivars differed significantly from each other for tillering, and plants of the same two-rowed cultivar also showed high heterogeneity for tillering.
