Data obtained from 59 Cheju 60 Brahman, 40 Santa Gertrudis and 269 crossbred calves were analysed to estimate the effects of environmental factors and heterosis. Mating type, sex of calf, and year of birth were significant sources of variation in most live weights before and after weaning. Brahman X Cheju cattle showed heterosis of 6.1% for birth weight.
