The most virulent and important Phytophthora sp. involved in rotting of gas stored apples is P. syringae. In a trial of various fungicidal dips used to treat artificially contaminated fruit, the best results were given by metalaxyl + carbendazim + DPA, followed closely by dodecyl-di(aminiethyl)glycine + DPA.
