Incidence and distribution of Pythium, Phytophthora and Fusarium ssp. in recirculating nutrient film hydroponic systems

Incidence and distribution of Pythium, Phytophthora and Fusarium ssp. in recirculating nutrient film hydroponic systems

Proceedings of the Sixth International Congress on Soilless Culture: 523-531

Pythium and Fusarium ssp. were isolated from nutrient solutions sampled at the inlets and outlets of 27.2 m channels in a commercial NFT enterprise growing 110,000 strawberry plants. The number of Fusarium propagules per ml at the outlets were significantly higher than those at the inlets; Pythiaceous fungi were present in lower numbers than Fusarium and there were no significant differences between the numbers at the inlets and outlets.
