Increase in first-flush flowering of 'Meiwa' kumquat, Fortunella crassifolia Swingle, trees by paclobutrazol

Paclobutrazol sprayed at 1000 mg/litre on 23 April and again on 8 May during the flower bud induction stage, markedly increased first-flush flowering but reduced flowering of the second flush and the total number of first- and second-flush flowers, but not significantly. The number of newly emerged shoots and new leaves was not affected by the treatment. Paclobutrazol slightly decreased the length of the shoots.
