Induction of 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid synthase in wounded mesocarp tissue of winter squash fruit and the effects of ethylene

Induction of 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid synthase in wounded mesocarp tissue of winter squash fruit and the effects of ethylene

Plant and Cell Physiology 26(1): 161-167

1-Aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC) synthase activity increased rapidly after wounding of mesocarp tissue of Cucurbita maxima fruit by disc excision, reached a peak at 16 h, and then declined sharply. The rise in ACC synthase activity was followed by increases in the endogenous ACC content and the rate of ethylene production. The activity of ethylene-forming enzyme also increased rapidly in the excised discs.
