Influence of ecological factors on yield and essential oil of chamomile (Chamomilla recutita (L.) Rauschert syn. Matricaria chamomilla L.)

Studies between 1976 and 1984 were carried out in Turkey, Finland, Austria and Germany (Munich) with plants of 4 cultivars propagated by seeds or cuttings in Germany. All plant material was also analysed in Germany. Flower formation occurred first in Turkey (early May) and then at all other sites in June. No difference in flowering time was noted between Finland and the central European sites due to the longer daylength in Finland.
