Influence of some meteorological factors on seasonal and diurnal prevalence of adult black flies (Diptera: Simuliidae)

The seasonal prevalence and diurnal activity of adult simuliids were studied in Morioka, Iwate Prefecture, Japan in 1982 and 1983, using net traps baited with carbon dioxide. The diurnal activity showed pronounced peaks just after sunrise and just before sunset between June and September, but in October and November, the 1st peak of the diurnal activity occurred 3-4 h after sunrise.
