In F1 hybrids from reciprocal crosses of Beta Ketsoros and Sofia 3, studied during 1981-83, overdominance was found for number and weight of grains/ear and for 1000-grain weight. In the F2, transgressive segregation was seen for number of grains/ear. Maternal effects were noted on number and weight of grains/ear.
