International tourism: an economic sector?

For a number of reasons, particularly economic ones, tourism has become one of the most attractive sectors for the national of a number of countries. During the period from 1973-75, which was characterized by various upheavals, international tourism nevertheless grew at a rate of 2.65%. According to the statistics of the IMF the growth rate for receipts from international tourism in 1975 was greater than that of world exports, of which in 1977 it represented 2.6%.
