Irrigation tanks of south India: management strategies and investment alternatives
The study analyzes the organization and management of tanks and identifies investment alternatives for tank improvement based on a sample of 10 tanks of varying sizes and types in Ramanathapuram district in Tamil Nadu. Two hundred farms were randomly selected from those served by the 10 tanks for a detailed analysis of their water management strategies in irrigation of paddy rice production during the period November 1981 to March 1982.
