Is flowering controlled by the assimilate level?

Is flowering controlled by the assimilate level?

Physiologie Vegetale 23(4): 491-501

Experimental data from both long- and short-day plants on the possible participation of assimilates, particularly carbohydrates, in flower or inflorescence initiation and development are reviewed. Spp. considered included Chrysanthemum morifolium, soyabeans, Brassica campestris, Sinapis alba, wheat, B. oleracea, Ananas comosus, Xanthium pensylvanicum and several other crop and weed spp.
