Isolation of Campylobacter spp. in slaughter animals and in the environment of an abattoir

Samples were taken from 82 calves, 40 cattle and 40 swine in an abattoir. From faeces Campylobacter spp. were isolated from 65.8% of calves (46.3% were C. jejuni), 40% of beef cattle (32.5% C. jejuni) and 72.5% of swine (all C. coli and Campylobacter sp. NARTC).
