Isolation of toxoplasma from goats

, : Isolation of toxoplasma from goats. Journal of the Japan Veterinary Medical Association 38(9): 590-594

Examination of saline suspensions of muscle from 20 goats revealed bradyzoite-like organisms in five. When muscle tissue from the goats was fed to 17 cats and five dogs, Toxoplasma-like oocysts were shed in the faeces of 8 cats (isolates G1 to G8); no sporocysts were found within 50 days of feeding the muscle. The G1 and G6 isolates were highly pathogenic for mice, the other six mildly pathogenic.
