Isolation of two ovicidal substances against two-spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae Koch, from Skimmia repens Nakai

A methanol extract of the leaves of Skimmia repens has recently been shown to exhibit fairly high toxicity to eggs of Tetranychus urticae. Two active compounds were isolated from the extract and identified as dictamine and seselin. Their ovicidal activity was found to be dose-dependent. The LC50 of dictamine was 300 p.p.m. and that of seselin was 1000 p.p.m.
