A survey was made in 210 natural populations (350 samples) and the following chromosome numbers were confirmed: (1) n = 17, 2n = 34: Campanula serrata subsp. recta, C. precatoria, C. ruscinonensis, C. hispanica, C. cochlearifolia and C. jaubertiana; (2) n = 34, 2n = 68: C. scheuchzeri and C. rotundifolia; and (3) n = 51, 2n = 102: another population of C. rotundifolia and C. ficarioides.
