Ketoconazole in vulvovaginal candidosis

Therapeutische Umschau. Revue Therapeutique 41(6): 412-415

Ketoconazole in vulvovaginal candidosis

Of 56 women with proven vulvovaginal candidosis treated for 5 consecutive days with 400 mg/day ketoconazole in a single dose taken at breakfast, 50 were clinically cured on the first evaluation (one week after treatment) and 5 of these had relapsed on the second evaluation (one month post-treatment). Six patients did not respond to therapy. Candida albicans was isolated in all cases except one in which C. tropicalis was cultured.
