Maintaining a collection of potato varieties by in vitro culture

Maintaining a collection of potato varieties by in vitro culture

Trudy po Prikladnoi Botanike, Genetike i Selektsii 73(2): 73-79

The results are presented of studies to determine the ideal conditions for maintaining breeding material in vitro; methods were found of storing material for <more or =>2 years. The possibility of tuberization in tissue cultures was examined in studies of many varieties of Solanum tuberosum and in wild species. Tabulated data are presented on the tuberization of 35 varieties and 11 species (19 forms) in the dark and in the light.
