The results are presented of trials in France in 1980-84 with Trichogramma maidis (as parasitized eggs of Anagasta kuehniella in a capsular formulation that can be applied by hand or from aircraft) for the biological control of Ostrinia nubilalis on maize. Application at intervals of 10 days at 200 capsules/ha, representing 600 000 parasites/ha, covering the oviposition period of O. nubilalis, was sufficient to control infestations with the potential to reach up to 5-6 larvae/plant.
