Massive outbreak of Cephalcia falleni in the Gorce mountains

Massive outbreak of Cephalcia falleni in the Gorce mountains

Sylwan 126(4): 41-50

Development of the outbreak is described from the early signs in 1976 to 1980 when over 2000 ha of Norway spruce forest were affected with smaller outbreaks also recorded in the Polish Beskid mountains. Stands affected were at high (900-1200 m) alt. where large outbreaks have seldom been recorded. The outbreak is closely paralleled by a similar outbreak of Zeiraphera griseana auct. at high altitudes in the Carpathian and Sudetan mountains.
