Methodology of soil sampling for recording soil fertility parameters in production fields of soil group 1

The spatial variability of the soil fertility parameters pH, organic matter, total nitrogen, magnesium, potassium, and phosphorus was investigated in the topsoil (0-30 cm) of a sandy site. The variation coefficients (s%) increased in the order of the parameters mentioned above. It was found out that 25 samples will do for a heterogenous soil cover. A comparison was made between different sampling distributions on 14-ha fields. It revealed that sampling along the largest diagonal seems to be useful. The variation coefficients of the soil fertility parameters were also influenced by the diameter of the soil auger.
