Microclimatic conditions in various types of calf sheds

Microclimatic conditions in various types of calf sheds

Zeszyty Naukowe Akademii Rolniczej we Wroclawiu, Zootechnika 28(151): 103-112

Temperature, RH and absolute air humidity were measured for 7 housing types. Measurements were carried out inside and outside each type. Air exchange rate, heat balance and external conditions required to maintain optimum levels of temp. and humidity in winter were calculated. In most sheds temp. was too low for calf housing, while RH was too high. The excessive ventilation observed reduced humidity significantly only at the cost of unacceptably lowered temp.
