Multivariate statistical analysis of correlated variation in the interspecific black currant hybrid Ribes nigrum L. X Ribes petiolare Dougl

The main factors determining 27 morphological, physiological and biochemical characters in the hybrid were established by principal component analysis of data from F2 plants. In all, 231 coefficients of correlation were calculated from data in 1972 and 276 in 1978. Eight principal components in 1977 and 10 in 1978 accounted for >80% of the total variation, with 6 components accounting for 71 and 64% of the variation.
