Note on the nutritive value of Pusa Giant Anjan grass

Note on the nutritive value of Pusa Giant Anjan grass

Indian Veterinary Journal 62(7): 609-612

The yield, chemical composition and nutritive value of Pusa Giant Anjan grass (a hybrid between Cenchrus ciliaris from Rajasthan and Pennisetum ciliaris from USA) were estimated. Harvesting at the flowering stage gave highest yield and nutrient content. Daily DM intake by Bachaur bullocks of initial liveweight 329 kg was 1.92 kg/100 kg liveweight. Average digestibilities of DM were 53, crude protein 49, ether extract 68, crude fibre 66, nitrogen-free extract 56 and total carbohydrate 60%.
