Overwinter random roughness changes for four tillage practices

Four test plots were examined to determine freeze-thaw effects on surface roughness changes. Four tillage methods were tested: mouldboard plough-disc harrow, east slope; mouldboard plough-disc harrow, south slope; chisel plough, northeast slope; and mouldboard plough, north slope. Results showed that random roughness with the mouldboard plough treatment, which had the highest initial roughness, decreased faster than the other treatments but still had the greatest final random roughness.
