Paleosols in the Luochuan loess section. II. Degree of weathering and estimation of paleoclimate

, : Paleosols in the Luochuan loess section. II. Degree of weathering and estimation of paleoclimate. Soil Science and Plant Nutrition 31(2): 277-286

The degree of weathering of 22 loess and 35 paleosol samples from the Luochuan area of Shaanxi Province, China, was estimated from the total contents of major elements, quartz and sand. The results revealed that the degree of weathering of paleosols in terms of the Weathering Index generally parallels the degree of pedogenetic development.
