Of 4295 faecal samples collected from June 1979 to June 1981, in the urban areas of Bhaktapur, Nepal, 3898 (90.8%) were positive for soil transmitted helminths. 75.8% were positive for Ascaris, 6.9% for hookworm infections and 40.6% for Trichuris.
