Pathology and control of seed mycoflora of some vegetables in Kerala

Storage fungi such as Aspergillus flavus, A. niger and Rhizopus stolonifer were externally as well as internally seed-borne in most of the seeds studied, including Amaranthus gangeticus, Abelmoschus esculentus, aubergine, Momordica charantia, cowpea, cucumber, pumpkin, Trichosanthes anguina and tomato. They caused max. inhibition of germination of the seeds from which they were isolated.
