Plasma thyroid hormones, growth and carcass measurements of genetically obese and lean pigs as influenced by thyroprotein supplementation

Plasma thyroid hormones, growth and carcass measurements of genetically obese and lean pigs as influenced by thyroprotein supplementation

Journal of Animal Science 61(3): 566-572

A 2 x 2 factorial arrangement with 2 genotypes of pigs (genetically obese and lean) and 2 dietary treatments (a standard growing diet based on maize and soyabean oilmeal with 16% protein and basal with thyroprotein 220 mg/kg as iodinated casein) was used. The 28 gilts were housed individually and fed freely from 121 days old until slaughtered at 99 kg bodyweight.
