Plasma thyroxine through parturition and early lactation in goats fed silage of grass and rape

Plasma thyroxine through parturition and early lactation in goats fed silage of grass and rape

Acta Veterinaria Scandinavica 26(3): 417-418

Blood samples were obtained from goats during a feeding trial in which grass silage was given to appetite in the morning. In the evening rape silage was given to appetite until the 4th week of lactation when it was gradually replaced by grass silage for 7 of the 14 goats. Concentrates (0.6 kg or according to yield) and some hay (0.2 kg) were given throughout the sampling period.
