Plots established in 1976 in plantations, 3-20 yr old, in Georgia, N. Florida and S. South Carolina with fusiform rust (Cronartium quercuum infection of 20-80%, were re-examined in 1979. Data were used to develop an equation for predicting future survival. Mortality rate of rust-infected trees was assumed to be the uninfected tree rate with additional components arising from infection. The instantaneous rate for uninfected trees was estimated at 1.2% p.a.
