Of 447 varieties tested during 1980-81, the most drought resistant were Almaz, Atlant, Leucurum 54, Khar'kovskaya 7 (which was practically resistant to stem borers), I300725, I302061, I302063, I301791, Rollete, 549, 172 and 5 local Kazakh varieties.
