Residual effect of atrazine and simazine applied to fodder maize sown on different dates on the succeeding wheat

The residual effects of atrazine and simazine each at 1, 2 and 3 kg/ha applied pre-em. to fodder maize sown on 4 dates on a subsequent wheat crop were studied. Atrazine and simazine applied to maize sown on 1 and 15 Aug. had no residual phytotoxic effect on wheat. Application of herbicides after 15 Aug. showed residual phytotoxicity to wheat. Simazine had a greater adverse effect than atrazine.
