Response of cucumber, finger millet, foxtail millet and sunflower to soil residues of atrazine and 2,4-D

Response of cucumber, finger millet, foxtail millet and sunflower to soil residues of atrazine and 2,4-D

Indian Journal of Weed Science 16(2): 133-135

Sorghum was given 0.25 and 0.5 kg atrazine/ha pre-em. or 1 and 2 kg 2,4-D Na/ha post-em. Bioassay studies were made to determine their residues in soil by sowing cucumber, Eleusine coracana, Setaria italica and sunflowers as indicator plants. Germination percentage, seedling height and DM production of the indicator plants were affected most adversely with 2 kg 2,4-D residues followed by 0.5 kg atrazine residues; residual adverse effects of the herbicides decreased at their lower rates.
